Quincy and Adams County schools continue to enhance their arts programs as evidenced by the increasing use of the resources of the Arts Quincy .

Each year the Arts-in-Education program plays a larger part in the schools as teachers include more cultural arts activities in their curriculum. The Arts-in-Education program is sponsored by the Illinois Arts Council Agency, Arthur O. & Lela B. Lindsay Fun, Anonymous Friend of the Arts, Jim & Jil Tracy Fund, Tracy Family Foundation, Stillwell Foundation, Quincy Service League, Optimisst Club of Quincy, Penny Power Adams Electric Cooperative, HOMEBANK and the business and individual members of the Quincy Society of Fine Arts.

Studies show that students who participate in fine arts classes as well as extra-curricular fine arts activities score higher grade point averages and have better attendance records than the general student body.

Arts Quincy Resources Includes:

  • Arts Dollars: The Arts Dollars program awards matching funds up to $500 and is funded in part by the Illinois Arts Council, Quincy Service League, The Rotary Club of Quincy,  and the business and individual members of the Quincy Society of Fine Arts.

  • Arts-in-Education Resource Guide: The guide contains a listing of fine arts services of member organizations, a local individual and an area individual artist roster, as well as local and area additional arts sources. In taking advantage of Arts Quincy's programs, area schools visited local museums, enlisted the services of many local artists, and brought in a variety of other artists from outside Adams County.
